Projects and Activities

Our Kiwanis club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growith

Below are the projects and activities in which we are currently involved:

  • January 21, 2017 — Kiwanis 101st Birthday Party at Detroit Yacht Club
  • March 2017 - Reading Month on Thursdays with West Utica Elementary students.
  • March 7, 2017 — NATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY = IHOP International Pancake Day donations made to Children’s Miracle Network.  Customers will receive a $5 coupon towards their next visit.
  • March 10-12, 2016 — 66th Service Leadership Conference — held in Lansing Michigan. The theme for 2017 is “Dive into Service” with service projects, workshops, contests and awards for Key Club members. (Eisenhower, Henry Ford II). For further information contact: Stacey Tyburski at
  • January 19-22, 2017 — Charity Poker — proceeds to help fund various mission projects.
  • March 24, 2016 - Book Bingo at West Utica Elementary where every child gets one or more books to take home.
  • April 1, 2017 — Division Meeting at One Woodward Avenue, Detroit MI and Shoe Collection for Michigan District. Contact Andre Laubauch for further information.
  • April 28-30, 2017 — Key Leader at FaHoLo Conference Center in Grass Lake Michigan — Key Leader changes lives! Key Leader is a program for today’s emerging leaders, teens age 14-18. This life-changing event focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership — leadership comes from helping others succeed. Students do not have to be members of Key Club. Businesses may sponsor a student at $250. Additional information at
  • April 29, 2017 — Road-side Clean-up — 10 am meet at Hamlin Pub at 22 Mile and Hayes. Prizes for the weirdest trash picked-up.  Contact Stacey Tyburski for sign-up.
  • May 7, 2017 - Kiwanis 5K Run - Jimmy John's Baseball Park, Utica MI
  • June 4, 2017 - Kiwanis Bicycle Rodeo and Family Safety Fair at Whispering Woods Kiwanis Park
  • June 9, 2017 - Kiwanis Golf Outing at Sycamore Hills Golf Course
  • July 29, 2017 - Kiwanis Day at the Farm, Wolcott Farm Center, Ray Michigan
  • August 2017 - Backpacks for Kids with School Supplies - Utica Community Schools
  • September 8-10, 2017 - Kiwanis Michigan Convention
  • October 28, 2017 - Kiwanis One Day - partnership with Fleece and Thank You -- tied fleece blankets for children in hospitals
  • November 4, 2017 - Kids Against Hunger Packaging at St. Isidore's Catholic Church at 23 Mile Road in Macomb.
  • December 8, 2017 - 28th "Bids for Kids" Auction - Buy Tickets Here
  • December 8, 2017 - Dinner for 2 Anywhere in the World Raffle
