Projects and Activities

Our Kiwanis club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growith

Below are the projects and activities in which we are currently involved:

  • January 20, 2018 - Kiwanis 103rd Birthday Party in Greektown Casino, Detroit, MI.
  • February 27, 2018 — NATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY = IHOP International Pancake Day donations made to Children’s Miracle Network.  Customers will receive a $5 coupon towards their next visit.
  • February 23-25. 2018 — 68th Service Leadership Conference — held in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The theme for 2018 is “Caring - Our Way of Life” with service projects, workshops, contests and awards for Key Club members. (Eisenhower, Henry Ford II).   • March 2018 - Reading Month on Thursdays with West Utica Elementary students.
  • March 3, 2018 - Community Baby Shower to benefit Detroit Children's Hospital for their clothes closet.
  • March 23, 2018 - Book Bingo at West Utica Elementary where every child gets one or more books to take home.
  • April 7, 2018 — Spring Divisional Meeting at Troy Community Center.  Contact Andre Laubauch for further information.
  • April 20-22, 2018 — Key Leader at FaHoLo Conference Center in Grass Lake Michigan — Key Leader changes lives! Key Leader is a program for today’s emerging leaders, teens age 14-18. This life-changing event focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership — leadership comes from helping others succeed. Students do not have to be members of Key Club. Businesses may sponsor a student at $250. Additional information at https://www.mikeyclub.org
  • April 28, 2018 — Road-side Clean-up — 10 am meet at Hamlin Pub at 22 Mile and Hayes. Prizes for the weirdest trash picked-up.  Contact Stacey Buchanan for sign-up.
  • May 6, 2018 - 2nd Annual Kiwanis 5K Run - Jimmy John's Baseball Park, Utica MI
  • June 3, 2018 - 30th Annual Kiwanis Bicycle Rodeo and Family Safety Fair at Whispering Woods Kiwanis Park.  New this year is a BMX Demonstration and Safety Defense Class.
  • June 8, 2018 - Kiwanis Golf Outing at Sycamore Hills Golf Course
  • July 28, 2018 - Kiwanis Day at the Farm, Wolcott Farm Center, Ray Michigan and Kiwanis Family Picnic.  All are Welcome.
  • August 2018 - Backpacks for Kids with School Supplies - Utica Community Schools
  • September 6-9, 2018 - Kiwanis Michigan Convention at Boyne Mountain.
  • October 27, 2018 - Kiwanis One Day 
  • November 3, 2018 - Kids Against Hunger Packaging at St. Isidore's Catholic Church at 23 Mile Road in Macomb.
  • December 7, 2018 - 29th "Bids for Kids" Auction at Palazzo Grande.  Sponsorships and Advertising available.
  • December 7, 2018 - Dinner for 2 Anywhere in the World Raffle
